3. How to verify our licence yourself

Do not take our word for it. Anyone can check an insurance licence for free:

A verification will show whether the licence is active, which lines of authority it covers, and any disciplinary history.

4. Carrier appointments and certifications

A licence lets us transact insurance in a state. An appointment lets us offer a specific carrier's products. We can only present plans from carriers that have appointed us in your state, which is why we do not offer every plan available in your area.

For Medicare Advantage and Part D we must also complete AHIP or NABIP certification and carrier-specific product training every plan year before we may discuss or enroll anyone in those plans. Agents who have not certified for a plan year cannot sell those plans, and we do not let them.

Our appointments change as carriers enter and leave markets. Ask us which carriers we represent in your county and we will tell you.

5. What our licence does and does not mean

Being licensed means a state regulator has confirmed our qualifications, that we completed pre-licensing and continuing education, that we passed a background check, and that we are accountable to that regulator for how we treat you.

It does not mean:

  • That we are an insurance company. We are not — see our Insurance Disclaimer.
  • That any government agency endorses us. None does.
  • That we can offer every plan in your area. We cannot.
  • That coverage is guaranteed. Carriers make that decision.

Our services are free to you. We are paid a commission by the carrier, built into a premium that state regulators have approved, and buying through us never costs more than buying direct.

6. Who regulates us and how to complain

We are regulated by the department of insurance in every state where we hold a licence, and — for Medicare products — by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.

If you have a concern, tell us first: ⁦855-277-7770⁩ or info@dfwus.com. You may also go straight to a regulator at any time:

  • Your state department of insurance — for anything involving an agent, an agency, a carrier, a sale or a claim. https://content.naic.org/state-insurance-departments
  • 1-800-MEDICARE (TTY 1-⁦877-486-2048⁩) — for Medicare Advantage or Part D marketing and enrollment concerns.
  • HealthCare.gov / 1-⁦800-318-2596⁩ — for marketplace enrollment concerns.

Complaining to a regulator costs nothing and cannot affect your coverage.
