SMS Terms & Conditions
How text messaging with American Mutual works — what we send, how you consent, and how to stop at any time.
Effective August 27, 2026 · Program: American Mutual Agency Alerts · Cost: Free from us — carrier rates may apply
1. About this messaging program
American Mutual Insurance Agency LLC operates a text messaging program for people who ask us to contact them about insurance. These terms apply to SMS and MMS messages sent to or from our business numbers.
Our SMS program is being set up and is not yet active. Until it launches we contact you by phone, email or WhatsApp. These terms are published in advance so you know exactly what to expect when texting begins.
WhatsApp messaging is covered separately in section 6 of our Privacy Policy.
2. What we will send you
Messages fall into these categories:
- Replies to a question you texted us.
- Quote follow-ups — letting you know a quote is ready or asking for a missing detail.
- Appointment reminders and confirmations.
- Application and policy updates — carrier decisions, documents needed, effective dates, and payment reminders from us as your agent.
- Renewal and enrollment period reminders, including the Medicare Annual Enrollment Period and ACA Open Enrollment.
Message frequency varies and depends on your activity with us. Most people receive only a handful of messages around a quote, an application, or a renewal.
We do not send promotional blasts, and we do not text you on behalf of other businesses.
3. How you give consent
We text you only after you have given us your mobile number and permission to reach you there — by submitting a quote or contact form on dfwus.com with the messaging consent box checked, by texting us first, by telling a licensed agent on a call, or by signing a form.
Consent to receive text messages is never a condition of purchasing insurance from us. You can decline texts and still get every quote, every plan and every service we offer.
By giving consent you confirm that you are the subscriber or the customary user of the number you gave us, and that you are at least 18. If your number changes or is reassigned, tell us so we do not message the wrong person.
Your mobile number and your consent are never sold, rented or shared with third parties or affiliates for their own marketing.
4. How to stop or get help
To stop messages
Reply STOP to any message from us. You may also reply STOPALL, END, QUIT, CANCEL or UNSUBSCRIBE. We will send one final confirmation and then send no further texts.
To get help
Reply HELP to any message, or call 855-277-7770, or email info@dfwus.com.
To start again
Reply START or UNSTOP, or just tell your agent.
Opting out of texts does not opt you out of phone calls, email or postal mail about an active application or policy — we may still need to reach you about coverage you hold. It also does not cancel any insurance.
5. Costs, carriers and delivery
We do not charge you for text messages. Message and data rates may apply from your mobile carrier depending on your plan — check with your carrier if you are unsure.
Message delivery is subject to your mobile carrier's network. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. We cannot guarantee that every message will be delivered, and you should not rely on text messaging for anything time-critical — call us instead.
Supported carriers include AT&T, Verizon Wireless, T-Mobile, Sprint, Boost, U.S. Cellular, MetroPCS, Cricket, Google Voice and most other U.S. carriers. Carrier support can change without notice.
Do not use text messaging for emergencies. For a medical emergency call 911.
6. Privacy and message content
Text messages are not a secure channel. Please do not send Social Security numbers, full payment card numbers, bank account numbers or medical records by text. If we need any of those, we will give you a secure way to send them.
Messages you exchange with us are stored in our agency records so your agent can help you and so we can meet record-keeping requirements. How we handle that information is described in our Privacy Policy, and you can ask us to delete your message history at any time.
7. Changes and contact
We may update these SMS Terms as our program or the applicable rules change. The "Effective" date above shows the current version.
